Aims of our Society
The main aim of our society is to preserve and support the cultural assets of the German minority living at Mecseknádasd.
(a) The society keeps an eye and supports the teaching of German in school with a special emphasis on the local dialect.
(b) It works for establishing the conditions for the use of German in religious ceremonies and in public life.
(c) It takes care of, revives, propagates and, to the next generation, passes on the national culture, the traditions, the musical, song and dance culture, values connected with folk literature, the linguistic peculiarities, the given names – street and sections of field, family names, etc.
(d) It undertakes the task of researching the history of the village and the families, with special attention on the research and probing into the life of St. Margaret of Scotland.
(e) It pays attention to the preservation and care of works of art.
(f) The society keeps together the inhabitants belonging to, connected with, descended from the national community, keeping awake the spirit of belonging together.
(g) It undertakes to cultivate and, in a widely varied way, enrich the partnership connections with the communities of the village’s displaced. It keeps making efforts to establish connections with the area, village in Germany where our ancestors originate from.
(h) It’s our vital interest to develop the village’s capacity to maintain its population, to create jobs, to build out the infrastructure. Therefore, the society takes a role in the village’s development, while it makes efforts in order that the nationalities have a proper representation in every selfgovernmental organization on a community and county level, in local authorities, schoolboards, in church and social organizations.
In order to achieve these aims, the society may initiate a reading circle, a dance group, a choir, a dramatic society, or it may call to life any other lesser community, it may organize a pilgrimage.
